Melody & Brandon | Wedding

September 16, 2013

This was my first time second shooting a wedding and I loved it! First I want to give a big thanks to Josh Meador (http://www.joshuameador.com/weddings), the primary photographer for the event and also the bride and groom, Melody and Brandon for letting me assist in capturing these special moments on their special day. I was able to attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner and their entire family was wonderful and didn't hesitate to come by and say hi. That helped out quite a bit so the next day they were pretty comfortable with me snapping photos throughout the day.

Shooting a wedding was a definite change from our normal family sessions that we do. I learned quite a bit about what goes into photographing a wedding and how crazy everything can be. Meeting certain timelines throughout the day, making sure you get all the required shots, ducking/dodging out of the way of the primary photographer's photos, etc.

I really hope I get some more opportunities to second shoot some more weddings (and maybe be the primary in the future)! It really helped me learn a lot about photography in general and working faster and quicker to make sure you don't miss anything since well, you don't really get to do a redo. I already am thinking about the next time and what I can do better and where I can position myself to get some more creative shots.

Take a glance at some of the photos from Melody and Brandon's weddings and I hope you enjoy them as much as I had taking them!
